Music Ministry

Music ministries include the following:

• Sanctuary Choir
• Lambs Choir
• Junior Choir
• Praise Band
• Children's Bell Choir
• Instrumentalists and Vocalists

Sanctuary Choir

Sanctuary choir welcomes singers from grade 8 to adult. This choir practices Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. and sings for Sunday morning services. Our choir director, Joyce Brown, leads this group. 

Lambs Choir (K-Grade 2)

Lambs choir meets on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:00 p.m.  This choir sings regularly in worship services.  Carolee Humes leads this group.

Junior Choir (Grades 3-7)

Junior singers meet on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:00 p.m.   This choir participates in worship regularly.   Our choir director, Joyce Brown, leads this group.

Praise Band (Professional Musicians & Congregation Members)

Praise Band leads our 10:30am Contemporary worship service in music and song.  The band consists of professional musicians and congregation members.  The professional musicians are: Joel Shapira on guitar and musical director, Tom Lewis – bass, Nathan Norman – drums. 

Joel Shapira is a top performing classical and jazz guitarist based in the Twin Cities. His educational background includes studies with some of the world's great players and teachers including jazz legends Joe Pass and Tal Farlow. A native of St. Paul, he attended Berklee School of Music in Boston and The Mannes School of Music in New York City where he lived, performed and taught for eight years.

Joel performs extensively in the Twin Cities area and beyond in a wide variety of musical settings including clubs, restaurants, private events, regional arts festivals and more. Sunset Park Music, the music business he founded in 1994, provides both jazz and classical music for weddings and private events.

Children's Bell Choir (Grades 3-8)

Bell ringers meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m.   This choir participates in worship occasionally.  Nancy VanKampen leads this group.  Contact the church office at 651-739-1264.

Instrumentalists and Vocalists (Middle, High school & Adults)

There are many opportunities to offer special music, accompany congregational singing, and accompany choirs.  Contact Joyce Brown at 651-739-1264 ext. 111 or jbrown@geth.org if you have an interest.
